End-User License Agreement & Privacy Notice
Last updated: December 29, 2025
Overview
RiffVPN provides a virtual private network ("VPN") service designed to keep your online activities secure and private. This document comprises both our End-User License Agreement (EULA) and our Privacy Notice. It explains how you may use the RiffVPN software and how we handle your data.
By downloading, installing, or using the software you accept this EULA and Privacy Notice. The optional community-sharing program is separate and requires your explicit opt-in in the Application settings. If you do not agree with these terms, do not install or use the software.
Summary
Free service with optional community sharing:
The core VPN features are free to use. An optional program allows your device to share a small amount of unused bandwidth to support the network when you are not using it. Participation is voluntary, disabled by default, and can be turned on or off in your settings.
Responsible use:
You must not use RiffVPN for illegal, fraudulent, or abusive purposes. In particular, you may not distribute malware, launch denial-of-service attacks, send spam, commit fraud, or violate the rights of others.
Respect for your privacy:
We do not record your browsing history. We collect only minimal data needed to operate and improve the service and we never sell your personal information.

2. Eligibility and Acceptance
Age requirement:
You must be at least 16 years old, or the age of majority in your jurisdiction, to use RiffVPN. If you are younger, you may use the Service only under the supervision of a parent or guardian.
Device ownership:
You may install the Application only on devices that you own or control. Installing or using it on devices without authorization is prohibited.
Acceptance of terms:
By downloading, installing, or using the Application you agree to be bound by this EULA and Privacy Notice. When (and only when) you enable the community-sharing feature, you also consent to your device acting as a peer and to limited routing of third-party traffic through your connection, subject to the limits you set.
3. License Grant
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Application solely for your own lawful purposes in accordance with this EULA. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, lease, or reverse-engineer the Application except as expressly permitted by law.
4. Description of the Service
VPN connectivity:
RiffVPN encrypts your internet traffic and routes it through secure servers to protect your privacy and to help you bypass geographical restrictions.
Split tunnelling:
You can choose which applications or websites use the VPN and which connect directly to the internet. By default all traffic passes through the VPN; you may configure exceptions for improved speed or compatibility.
Multiple devices and sharing:
You may connect multiple devices with a single RiffVPN account and share access with trusted friends or family. Each device is uniquely identified; future versions may offer optional account authentication.
Service tiers:
During our beta period the Service is free of charge. We may offer premium plans with additional features or higher speeds in the future while keeping the basic free tier available to existing users.
5. Community Sharing (Optional)
How it works:
When you enable the community-sharing feature, a portion of your unused bandwidth may be used to relay third-party traffic. The amount of bandwidth used is limited and subject to conditions you set (for example, Wi-Fi only, while charging, speed caps or data limits).
Opt-in:
Participation in community sharing is entirely voluntary. The feature is disabled by default. You will have the opportunity to review information about the program before enabling it.
Opt-out:
You can disable community sharing at any time in the Application settings. Doing so will immediately stop the use of your bandwidth for relaying traffic.
Privacy and security:
RiffVPN does not inspect the contents of the traffic relayed through your device. Your device acts as a conduit; you will not see the data being relayed. Relayed traffic is designed to be separated from your identity, and we implement measures intended to reduce the ability to associate relayed traffic with you.
Minimal impact:
The Application monitors your network conditions and uses only idle bandwidth. You can set limits to ensure that your own usage is not affected.
Ethical standards and enforcement:
We maintain measures to prevent our network from being used for malicious or illegal purposes. We may restrict, throttle, block, or suspend community-sharing participation and/or related traffic patterns when misuse, abnormal activity, or policy violations are detected.
6. Prohibited Uses
RiffVPN is intended for lawful and ethical use. You agree not to use the Service or permit others to use it to:
- Engage in illegal or abusive activity.
- Distribute malicious software or attack networks.
- Send spam or unsolicited communications.
- Commit fraud or deception.
- Infringe rights.
- Transmit unlawful or harmful content.
- Resell or misuse the Service.
- Interfere with security.
Enforcement:
We may restrict, throttle, suspend, or terminate your use of the Service or any feature without notice if you violate these prohibitions, if required by law, or to protect the Service and other users. We may report unlawful behaviour to the appropriate authorities.
7. Privacy Notice
No browsing logs:
We do not record the websites you visit, the content you access, or the data you transmit while using the VPN.
Service events and limited diagnostics (minimal):
To operate, secure, and improve the Service, we collect limited technical information such as:
- coarse session events (e.g., connection attempt / successful connection / disconnect / failed connection) and high-level performance signals,
- aggregated bandwidth usage (e.g., totals over a period) for capacity planning and abuse prevention,
- device type, operating system version, app version, and crash reports.
These records are stored briefly and/or in aggregated form and do not include browsing history or the contents of your communications.
Device identifiers:
While the beta version does not require an account login, we use a unique device identifier to maintain your settings. If you reinstall the Application on the same device your settings may be preserved. Future versions may offer optional account logins.
Community-sharing metrics:
If you participate in community sharing we record the aggregated volume of traffic relayed through your device, your chosen limits, and overall performance statistics. We do not inspect the content of the relayed traffic.
Support communications:
If you contact us for support we may retain your messages and contact details in order to respond and improve our services.
Use of data:
We use the data described above to operate and maintain the Service, prevent abuse, comply with legal obligations, and improve the user experience. We may analyse aggregated or anonymised data for statistical purposes. We do not sell or rent your personal information to advertisers.
Data security:
We use encryption and industry-standard security measures to protect your data. Nevertheless, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure and you acknowledge this inherent risk.
Data transfers:
Our servers may be located in multiple countries. By using the Service you consent to your data being processed in jurisdictions outside your residence. We take reasonable steps to ensure that cross-border data transfers comply with applicable laws.
Data retention:
We retain data only as long as necessary to achieve the purposes described above or as required by law.
8. Updates and Changes
Changes to terms:
We may modify this EULA or the Service from time to time. If we make material changes we will provide notice within the Application or on our website. Your continued use of the Service after the changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the updated terms.
Software updates:
The Application may download and install updates automatically, such as security patches, new features, or bug fixes. By using the Application you consent to receive such updates.
9. Termination
Your rights:
You may stop using RiffVPN at any time by uninstalling the Application. If you wish to disable only the community-sharing feature you may do so in the settings.
Our rights:
We may restrict, suspend, or terminate your access to the Service if you violate this EULA, if required by law, or if we cease to offer the Service. We may also terminate or disable the community-sharing feature for any reason.
10. Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability
Service provided "as is."
RiffVPN is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee that the Service will be available at all times, free of errors, or fully secure.
Limitation of liability.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, neither we nor our partners will be liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of RiffVPN. Our total liability for direct damages will not exceed the amount you paid for the Service (if any).
Indemnification.
You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your misuse of the Service or your violation of this EULA.
11. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution
The laws of the jurisdiction in which we are incorporated govern this EULA without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute arising from or relating to this EULA will first be subject to good-faith negotiations. If no resolution is reached, the dispute shall be submitted to binding arbitration or to a competent court in our jurisdiction, unless prohibited by applicable law.
12. Contact Information
If you have questions or concerns about this EULA, the optional community sharing, or your data, please contact us at info@riffvpn.com.
